Ottawa―The results of Canada's commitments to developing countries are now easier to access after Canada's Minister of International Cooperation, the Honourable Beverley J. Oda, released the Development for Results 2010-2011 report today.

"Our annual report, using powerful and compelling images and videos, demonstrates how Canada's support to developing countries is saving lives, feeding the hungry, and reducing poverty," said Minister Oda. "By connecting Canadians to the compelling story of development through innovative technologies, we are meeting our commitment to communicate how our tax dollars are yielding results for those most in need."

In Development for Results 2010-2011, Canadians will learn more about the Canadian International Development Agency's work in the developing world. Results include building or renovating 110 health facilities in Sudan; treating more than 17,000 children against AIDS in Mozambique; helping feed 11 million people affected by famine in East Africa; giving 1 million Tanzanians access to credit; helping train 1,000 teachers in Colombia; and delivering hot meals to 400,000 boys and girls in Haiti.

"These results matter and Canada's commitment to developing countries make me proud, as it should all Canadians," said Minister Oda. "We are making a real difference for people who are suffering from poverty, disease, or as a result of disasters. I encourage all Canadians to read the moving stories in this report to find out how."

Development for Results 2010-2011 can be found on the Agency's website and is available as a downloadable e-book.
